Number of Patients and Visits

This non-governmental and non-profit organisation transfuses blood and blood products to its around 11,100 registered patients who suffer from a dreadful and painful disorder of Thalassaemia, Hemophilia and other genetic blood disorders.

Blood products needed for the treatment.

All Fatimid Centers have fractionation facilities for the following types of blood products:

  • Packed red cells (PC-PRC) is transfused to raise Hemoglobin level and to treat Thalassaemia.
  • Fresh frozen plasma (FFP) is transfused to treat coagulation factor deficiency diseases.
  • Cryoprecipitate (CP) is transfused to treat Hemophilia, Von Wille-Brand disorders and some other diseases with Coagulation factor deficiencies.
  • Platelet concentrate (PLT) is transfused to treat patients who bleed repeatedly.
  • Cryosupernantent (CS) is transfused to treat Hemophilia B (factor 9).

Whole blood is used in very rare situations where both Hemoglobin and blood volume need to be replaced/increased (road traffic accidents).

The current concept is to use "COMPONENTS OF BLOOD" instead of the whole blood according to the specific indications.
